In the Saturday edition of our local newspaper, one letter writer believes the POTUS is not obliged to accommodate a dishonest media.

Here is a partisan temper tantrum that resembles a bad marriage to an abusive spouse. If one fails to agree with the letter writer, you are deemed illogical, a lying liberal, a purveyor of fake news; an enemy of truth, justice, and apple pie. My way or the highway. Agree, or else!

This land is not YOUR land but also MY land. Our government spends not just YOUR tax money but MY tax money too. The letter writer disregards the boundaries between YOURS and MINE and forgets the “US” in USA.

Here is an example of binary thinking that disrespects fellow citizens. A hyper partisan attitude sees the world only in binary terms — friend versus foe, night versus day, and up versus down. In a world that is either all black or all white, there are no shades of grey, no subtleties, no complexity, nor civil exchange.

The letter writer is long on verbal abuse but short on mutual respect. A toxic attitude often results in broken marriages ... and broken government.
